Here its is. One of the most stunning double pages of the whole series, and a pivotal moment in the long history of the struggle between Assassins and Templars. No more turning back now.

Nooooo! Poor old man! He was like a lovely grandpa

my grandpa was a lovely fella. however, he looked more like old ezio than this mentor when he died.

me too,
and that scene is really shocking.

I love the diversity of hidden blades, sort of reminds me of the unique lightsabers of individual Jedi.
I’ve always wondered; is the Mentor’s “Ah” a realisation of betrayal?

I actually think he’s like: “Ah, you know how to use it.” Just like Ezio did in AC 2, showing off the Blade extending to Paola.
The old man didn’t see it coming. Poor man, i liked him!

Well Ezio learned how to use it from practice (saving Leonardo from a city guard, etc). But I think Daniel acquired the skill via Bleeding Effect-esque when Vidic was indoctrinating him. So he either learned when he was having those flashback memories of Nikolai or some sort of training program similar to the ones Abstergo agents used. The Assassins however didn’t know that he was indoctrinated only that he sees memories of his ancestor. On top of that he became a capable assassin over the years, and the hidden blade is easy to operate. So even if the hidden blade wasn’t a standard issue, and if Daniel had no hands-on experience with the blade, he could probably still operate it. I think the Mentor knew at least this much.
I haven’t read the comics for years so I might be forgetting something which could make my whole argument redundant.

Daniel certainly has very good aim, considering he’s not really aware/in control of himself right now….
LooneyTexan said on June 13, 2012
Do you think The Mentor would have been able to step away from the blade on time if he didn’t have the.. uh.. poochy stomach?
MysticHeero said on June 13, 2012
Haha I was thinking he’s not much of a fit and healthy example of an assassin myself. Can’t be an very active person.

^ would’ve replied to you “not just you” that same day, but held against it. hope you’re doing better now, though.
pedgz said on June 13, 2012
dear daniel,
how does it feel to push that blade and kill someone?
yes, kids, that’s why it’s called “the fall.”
Al said on June 14, 2012
I actually paused in disbelief when I turned the page. Can’t wait to find out what happens to everyone in The Chain.
