I try not to get attached to characters (because my favourites always die) but when you play as them for so long then it becomes annoying if they die

everyone is reading too deep into the color scheme.. if they used black instead of red, does that mean desmond is charred at the end of the series?

i don’t think desmond is allowed to die.. if clay is telling the truth in the game, that means desmond will have to have a son before he falls off the planet.

I really don’t think Desmond will die, unless there are multiple endings or something. It’s very uncommon for the main character die in all possible endings, and it’s extremely rare for such games to get good reviews.

    @looneytexan haha that’s easily done ;P

There are many games where the main chars sacrifice themselves at the end so I was just guessin :3

@looneytexan I only mentioned it due to the fact it looks like Eaglevision, but I will admit that there’s a high chance I’ve looked too much into it.

@spartan501 I didn’t realise such endings were considered in terms of reviews.

Perhaps he’ll die the same way as Ezio? I mean he’s got to die at some point, right?

@sharpy102 yes he has got to die at some point…. old and grey, warm in his….crypt :P

unless they spring some more surprises on us…ya never know ^_^

@jen319 I like the fact he’s warm in his crypt. It’s not some sort of cold desolate affair :P I think in Assassin’s Creed I only accept they’re dead if I actually see them die, not if they’re stabbed and then that’s it, I want to actually see there corpse. Though that sounds creepier than I meant it to, but I just don’t trust it  (@)

Plus, as Ezio proved, age doesn’t have that much of a burden on Assassins. So whilst it might be the last time we see him in a game, there’s other media forms he could venture into. I’d think it unlikely, but hey, a lot of unlikely things happen.

@sharpy102 I didn’t mean natural deaths like Altair/Ezio, but games in which main characters are guaranteed to fail. Imagine that after hours and hours of gameplay, your character fails and dies in a cutscene. Mission NOT accomplished and the bad guys win.

I don’t know if the embargo on brotherhood and the fall spoilers is lifted yet or not (it should be :P ) but beware of spoilers I guess, some of you.

It could be that the creator’s initially intended to make Desmond a double-agent who had been programmed to kill a certain assassin. Later on, after the events of brotherhod, they probably realised that this might be borrowing a little too much from the comics and so they altered the story into what we observed at the beginning of revelations and after the lost archive dlc. Just my two cents. :)   (feather)

@spartan501 Ahh, I see. I misinterpreted you there. I agree with your point now, that would be pretty disheartening and would be a bit of a turn-off, I imagine. Acceptable in a game where your actions decide the outcome, of course. But they could twist it so it’s only half a success and half not so much. I guess we’ll know one way or the other eventually  *-)

@Al-Ta’ir I’m sort of trying to circumvent any spoilers, because even if the embargoes have lifted I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t played them all yet :P Your two cents are definitely worth more than two cents, that sounds like a plausible answer  :)

Yeah, Lucy being a Templar was definitely a retcon. The guy who came up with the story and Kristen Bell have been interviewed separately, and they both said that Lucy wasn’t a Templar. Besides, Eagle Vision revealed Lucy to be an Assassin.

Now, when double agents go deep enough, allegiances aren’t so clear anymore. We know that Lucy felt very remorseful after Clay killed himself, and she was always nice to Desmond and the rest of the team, so it’s doubtful that she would have betrayed the Assassins after getting the Apple, especially since she liked Desmond. I think it’s pretty likely that she’ll be mentioned again in AC3, so we’ll see what happens…

@spartan501 Lucy could have had Templar blood and not known it. It’s unlikely I admit, but there is something about Lucy that as you say will likely be mentioned in the next game. Interesting point about the double agents though, there might still be one in Abstergo, or even one within the Assassins. Perhaps they will play both sides off against each other and they will emerge to be a third faction in the conflict.

    *spoiler alert*

It was revealed in the DLC that Lucy found Bill Miles a little too cold for her liking, so she switched sides. The whole escape thing was arranged with Dr. Vidic to convince Desmond to trust Lucy. Thing is, when 16 killed himself, Lucy didn’t take it very well. As a double agent, it’s entirely possible that she switched sides a second time, so that while Vidic was led to believe that Lucy was going to retrieve the Apple for Abstergo, he might have been double-crossed. Still, Juno forced Desmond to kill Lucy, which points to her being a Templar–yet Eagle Vision reveals her to be an Assassin. There’s no evidence to say that Eagle Vision ever fails, and even if it does, we have no idea what the conditions are.

Perhaps Juno forced Desmond to do that because she had betrayed them once, regardless of whether or not she changed sides again. However, for Juno to know Lucy had done this would surely suggest that she is alive, possibly living inside the Apple? I thought they were sort of pre-recorded messages that were being shown to Ezio and Desmond, but how can they be unless they foresaw such a betrayal? Perhaps I’m missing something here which I apologise for if I am. Regarding the Eagle Vision though, who’s to say that it isn’t distorted by the viewers own beliefs and reasoning? Sometimes I get the impression that we know a lot about this series, but that there are still dark and mysterious corners left to find, which I do like  :P

    re: eagle sense.

remember what juno said: “You with five senses. Us with six. The one we kept from you. To be safe. Now, you can never know. Only try… You see the blue shimmer. You hear the words. But you do not know.”

unless desmond has reached eagle sense like ezio did, it’s not a 100% reliable thing to use in determining allegiances.
