If you wanted to make a hidden blade there are guides on youtube and that, using drawer slides and springs etc. Relatively cheap to make.

With the bracer idea, the capacity for one to be put in would be cool. I know of videos of how to make a (HiddenBlade)  with a 20″ drawer slide
