Assassin’s Creed III Lead Game Designer Interview
Can you tell us about the Ubisoft Singapore Studio, and about the work you’ve done so far?
Singapore studio is one of the rising stars within the Ubisoft family. I’ve been there for only a year and I can feel the strength and team spirit of people who really want to produce amazing games! I am confident that the world will hear even more about Ubisoft Singapore in the future!
I was lead game designer on an unannounced project until December at which point I joined Assassin’s Creed 3. Since then, I’ve touched all parts of the naval experience design: from navigation to naval combat to mission design and map content. Given that naval was an innovative gameplay experience that built from the ground up, it’s been a very (very!) busy time, but I am extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished!
We absolutely loved the Assassin’s Creed III Naval Gameplay Demo. Tell us a little about where you drew your inspiration for the naval elements of the game.

For the Naval demo, the inspiration was fuelled by the ocean technology developed in Singapore. Through our prototyping exercise, it quickly became obvious that having a dynamic control over the waves and atmospheric elements had a huge potential for incredible experiences. Since the naval experience is based on physics, waves are not only awesome visually, they affect also the gameplay by adding depth and tactical aspects.
What were the biggest challenges in creating this amazing scene?
Creating such an experience requires MANY people working together and coordinating toward a single objective. Continuous communication is key as everything evolves constantly and each needs to adapt to the latest changes.
Creating a clear and realistic plan while giving the individuals involved creative freedom to show their talent is key to success.
Do you have plans to further explore the Assassin’s Creed universe? And do you have future plans you can tell us about ?
Once you’ve been an Assassin, you’re part of the Brotherhood forever!

Assassin’s Creed III Singapore T-Shirt
Steer your own destiny.
This T-Shirt symbolizes the importance of naval battles in Assassin’s Creed III and the Singapore studio’s tremendous contribution to the construction and elaboration in the game.
Naval scenes and missions are an integral part of Connor’s goal of leading the colonists to be free to determine their own destiny..
Assassin’s Creed III Aquila T-Shirt
Anchor your place in the revolution.
Naval battles are an important part of Assassin’s Creed III. In 1775, the thirteen British colonies of North America formed the Continental Navy in order to defend themselves against British naval forces. Connor, well-known Assassin, captained the ship the Aquila, which participated in the elimination of the Templar threats in North America and in securing independence for the United States of America.
The anchor symbolizes this connection between the importance of naval encounters with the Assassin’s quest of freedom and independence.

Same, shipping fee alone is too expensive, so better buy 2-3-more item rather than just 1.

Also would love the Singapore t shirt in a beigey sand colour like old paper (the colour from the old Prowler tshirt would be good) or a faded gray.
